Diagnosed with an immune deficiency disorder at just two years old, Vidalia was forced to missed Valentine’s Day celebrations and Christmas Parties with her friends. Instead, she would travel to Las Vegas to receive infusions and visit her doctors. Vidalia and her family live in Overton, Nevada, a rural area that provides her the opportunity to explore the outdoors. Her mom says, “Vidalia has the biggest smile while out camping.” Vidalia’s cousin has a trailer, and she loves spending time in the trailer playing and camping. When Vidalia met her volunteer wish granters, she knew immediately what her wish would be; to have a trailer! Her property includes full RV hookups so she can play
in her trailer even at home! Vidalia envisioned her family sleeping in it and taking her toys and friends to the trailer (supervised by mom!).
On August 18, 2017, Vidalia thought her family was driving her to Lake Mead for a normal, family camping trip. She was surprised when they pulled up, to see a trailer and signs just for her. Greeted with cheers by the staff at Blue Dog RV, Make-A-Wish volunteers, and Lake Mead Park Rangers, Vidalia’s wish was granted! She and her family spent their first weekend with her new trailer camping at Lake Mead, where she and her sister could enjoy it to its fullest capacity. After the weekend away, Vidalia’s mom said “Thank you for making our daughters wish come true! All of the details and special things you all put into the trailer is incredible! We can’t thank you enough for the beautiful smile on our daughters face.”
Representatives from Make A Wish Foundation of So. Nevada, Blue Dog RV, and Lake Mead National Recreation Area gather to grant the wish of local girl, Vidalia Bennett.
